To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.
- Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
- Offer a correction if possible.
- References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
- Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 18:46 on 15 July 2025) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
- Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
- Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
- No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
- Actual errors only. Failures of subjective criteria such as interestingness are not errors.
- Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
- Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed or determined not to be an error, or the item has been rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

[edit]- ... that Katherine Balch is "like some kind of musical Thomas Edison"?
The "is" makes this a WP:NOTPROMO violation even with the quotation marks, which do not, on their own, clearly signal that this is someone's opinion rather than a wikivoice assertion of fact. A "has been called" might fix it, but personally I'm skeptical of hooks that are just generic praise for a living person (contrast praise about a specific accomplishment or for a creative work of theirs). -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (they|xe|🤷) 04:15, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
- Agree. Surprised that this made it through. I thought unattributed, out-of-context quotes in hooks are generally a no-no (unless it's for the quirky slot). @JuniperChill @ArtemisiaGentileschiFan @Miraclepine Cielquiparle (talk) 10:37, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
- I thought it was a good hook, my apologies. I thought it was a quirky hook because I think the wording of "some kind of [thing that has nothing to do with Thomas Edison] Thomas Edison" was pretty funny. I have no opposition to rewording it as "has been called" or "has been described as". ArtemisiaGentileschiFan (talk) 10:52, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
- I've added attribution to the hook. I'm not sure what we've got now is wonderful, but at least it fixes the immediate problem. RoySmith (talk) 12:45, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
- @RoySmith: Shouldn't Joshua Kosman be linked? ミラP@Miraclepine 16:12, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
- As a matter of (not always followed) style, DYK tries to keep the number of links in a hook to a minimum. The feeling is that we want to encourage readers to click through to the primary (bolded) link, not distract them with other possible articles that are also linked to. [edit]"Aboard HMS Bellerophon, French emperor Napoleon (pictured)" - probably take out "pictured" unless he is going to be pictured. CAVincent (talk) 00:15, 15 July 2025 (UTC)
